FOM-MEM is Fibre-Optic Matrix for Mechanical Events Mapping
FOM-MEM is a project focused on the development of a globally unique system of distributed point sensors enabling reliable mapping of the locations of mechanical disturbances of the rotational type both in the ground and in engineering structures, together with the training of a team of its manufacturers and the internationalization of the project results. A suitable Fiber-Optic Seismograph (FOS6) rotational type seismograph unit with performance parameters defined by rotational seismology will be used as the basic solution.
The project is developing in period 2024-2027 as project FENG.01.01-IP.02-1714/23 “FOM-MEM – Fibre-Optic Matrix for Mechanical Events Mapping”. Project uses results obtained during previously Elproma work according design FOS6. Four such device are located in star configuration as network node (see below) with one central unit for collection and processing high correlated also in time data from four FOS6 in node.
Through the use of the Patent Application to the Polish Patent Office (P.450532 dated 11.12.2024), Elproma developing solution directed on recognize the localisation of source the disturbance. The key to this solution is to exploit the dependence of the different recording times of the same disturbance by an array of four FOS6 with their mutual spatial arrangement – see scheme below.
Based on of the Patent Application to the Polish Patent Office (P.450531 dated 11.12.2024) Elproma works on autonomous and its recognition (natural, artificial including detonations, etc.). Automatic recognition of the type of source of disturbance (natural, artificial, detonations, etc.), where the essential element is to perform spectral analysis of the recorded signals and compare them with the available standards—see the diagram below.
