On April 9, 2026, a meeting of the Polish Technology Platform on Photonics (PPTF) was held with representatives of industry companies within the ORLEN S.A. Group (ORLEN Unipetrol, ORLEN Neptun, Grupa LOTOS S.A.). During the meeting, organized at the headquarters of Łukasiewicz-PIAP in Warsaw, the latest achievements of the Polish photonics sector were presented.
Elproma presented the optical Sagnac interferometer, based on which three devices are being developed in Poland:
1. A rotational seismology seismometer, FOS class,
2. An industrial event detection system FOM-MEM,
3. An optical gyroscope FOG.
The audience was also introduced to the role of optical interferometry within the company’s dual-use solutions portfolio (www.elpromaelectronics.com), highlighting the strong interconnection between the following groups:
I. Sagnac optical interferometry,
II. Network time synchronization systems (NTP/PTP) and satellite-based GNSS systems resistant to time manipulation,
III. Systems for detecting jamming and GPS (GNSS) spoofing (ARGOS system).
In the discussion, Elproma demonstrated a strong relationship between time synchronization (T) and its resilience to GPS interference, and optical interferometry solutions used for determining position (P) and navigation (N) without relying on satellite-based GNSS techniques. It was noted that FOSREM is a particularly important technology for the development of the Polish economy, operating at the nanoscale level of atomic resolution. It serves not only for monitoring infrastructure security, but also provides a new class of non-invasive instruments for identifying sources of natural resources located deep underground.
